Spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ

Eve – Grace Tambee

Eve

The forbidden tree
That fruit
If only I had known
I would sell our fate
I would let it be.

See
Our souls have I damned
Our garments, stained
A truth, so fake, had me blind.
Let the tears of my daughters flood me
For my sin, they pay
In joy that yet gives pain
No one but me to blame.

Not one soul will pity my tears
From now onward
Till the day be my death
In all my years
That rue the day
I wronged my Lord.

Oh the fruits,
Berries, and cherries,
Here is my truth
That none is tasty
Nor worthy enough
To justify my choice.

The ground I tread,
Swallow me whole!
The sin on my head
So screams so bold,
Oh such ignominy
Will my name cursed
Atop my children’s lips
Oh such ignominy I share with you,
my guilt, my shame.
