Relief – Benny Wanjohi
Perplexed by my inability
To do that which honours,
Anxious about my credibility
For,
My struggle is real –
My flesh, a big deal,
Unto whom shall I appeal?
Posture of my heart wanting
Failing on that which honours
Thoughts on my mind ruining
For,
My struggle is real –
My flesh, a big deal,
Unto whom shall I appeal?
A holy God, who shall approach?
A contrite heart He honours
And no more look of His reproach
Though,
My struggle is real –
My flesh, a big deal,
Unto Him shall I appeal?
To turn back, He admires
Changed ways, He honours
Away from precarious desires!
Gradually,
My struggle is won –
My flesh, a silent thorn,
Relief of a forgiven sinner!
